The higher education marketplace is particularly unique in the fact that most universities/colleges have created, not by any fault of their own but due to lack of DOL enforcement/communication, an “autonomous” culture among their faculty and staff as it relates to the investments/platforms offered for their retirement plans.

This culture, when coupled with multiple investment platforms and various group/individual contracts, creates the need for a highly personalized and demographic based approach when introducing the required ERISA fiduciary plan governance and oversight process.

BFA, Inc. has a fundamental belief in giving back to our community.

One way in which we do so is by matching up our service model with the needs of the non-profit sector dealing with the fiduciary oversight obligations found under ERISA 401a/403b plans. The non-profit group is one that typically has a “paternalistic” view of their fiduciary role to their faculty/staff and our fiduciary process matches up extremely well with their intentions.

BFA, Inc. has some of the largest non-profit organizations in the Northeast as clients not only due to our personality style which resonates well with both committee members and staff but also the fact that we back our belief in our client’s non-profit deliverables by reducing our annual flat-dollar advisory fee for this sector.
